Thursday ride 21 April 2005 - Ings

A group of 11 riders set out from the Watermill north up the lane to Grassgarth then north past Mickle Moss, thru' the ford and downhill to Kentmere Hall, at which point we had one puncture and one blown tyre wall, so Phil had to ride back carefully on the road. Now down to 10, round the road and up by Green Quarter along Cornclose lane track, around Birk Rigg and down Stavely Head Fell, = second puncture (Young Harry) then eventually down HP Plantation, now it was starting to become dust/dark. Down the road, taking the track past Browfoot up the tarmac lane, past The Heights and back down the rocky bridgeway to Ings lane. A great ride say all, next week 6.15pm at Clappersgate (park by the river).

Evening ride 14th April 2005

The 1st ride of the 2005 summer seaon was held at Staveley starting at Barley Bridge, heading on the usual anti-clockwise circuit, 10 folk turned out for 4 water splashes, 15 gates and NO lights required. Someone did slope off at half time to go to the pub, something about not more hills...
Next week start at Watermill Ings, where we will plan more rides so bring along any new or alternative routes.

Night ride 31st March 2005 - Winster

A turn out of 8 for the penultimate 'night' ride of this season.

The pub decided that folk using their car park for recreational sports were not too welcome, unless they spent more time in the pub (meaning £££) than enjoying the lakeland air....so we parked in just down the road next to the church, a very nice spot to start the ride.

The usual ride (of course there is nothing usual about a winter ride, no route is the same as you can not see it in the dark!) heading off down the road to the ford, but no, turn left past the newly built dry stone wall and on up the rocky, leafy bridegway, although it was not very leafy and basically ridable for once. Then carry on UP the hill and round the usual route to end up near Winster House for Grants home made tart, a kind of bakewell tart made with left over easter eggs blended in instead of jam and 'Jolly Good' say all, well done Grant (or at least his chef!!)

Continuing the ride basically down the road to the ford, at which point Charlie's chain link piece decided to give up and Charlie had to be pushed 'up-hill' all the way back to the cars by some gallant bikers!!

Last chance to vote for the 2004-05 season Winter Awards, before the award ceremony......watch this space.
