23rd February 2017 - Satterthwaite for a local lap

Well it seemed Doris put some folk off, but no rain and no storms, so a lap of Grizedale it was to be, but who was riding...not me or you, but JB; it looked like this;

a little cold on the digits due to stopping for a puncture! otherwise OK.

16th February 2017 - Staveley for Garburn

It threatened to be damp but wasn't really, more misty fog-ness on the tops, so Charlie turned up (first house-point;) and said she didn't want to ride Garburn! (deduct house-point!) Jamie rode out and did not want to ride any mud, Joel turned up, heard about possible mud and didn't want to ride, George turned up with jet-lag (serves him right;), but Charlie did have homemade cake and if we were going them lets get on with it, oh and we managed to talk Joel into coming as well. Straight up the road, little detour left via Browfoot, back onto the road, no mud straight to Garburn, best not prolong the agony for Charlie. So straight up Garburn, can't lie, there was some pushing and walking involved, not too bad and at the top gate we got cake made with no flour just all goodness and bananas (second house-point to Charlie). The top bit was foggy coming down, but suddenly cleared a few hundred meters down, tee off left for Dubbs descent which was v'fast and ace:), back to cars on road...no wait we took another detour, right turn at Mislet and across to Blackmoss and the route back to Ings, Joel got muddy! then back to the cars by 9. All good not even that wet, maybe some mud, but never as bad as you think.

9th February 2017 - Pelter Bridge for a ride over to Elterwater

Grant, Charlie, Jamie B, Joel, Jamie Mac and CT all met up in a quiet car park, i.e. it was only us folk and the parking machine was out of action (does not charge after 6pm anyway). A cold wind and the odd snowflake was visible... if you squinted;). Let's go a different direction, so we headed up to the caves, then across the north side to the top of Red Bank, then around to Elterwater, JP managing to clean the hill climb in full fat mode (no mud you see;). Then we dropped down to Elterwater, cross the lane and climb up the testing track, right at the top and down the technical route, back via the quarry and back up to the YHA and back via the caves and a nice technical drop into the last section and back to the cars. Just over 10 miles and safely back, why mention safely... due to the fact that a colleague had been playing ultimate Frisbee the night before and had fallen over on the playing field and broken her ankle which meant a week in hospital and metalwork in the leg, Ouch! So take care out there.

2nd February 2017 - Gilpin Bridge for a local lap

Only the Jamies made it out, CT was going to ride out but brake issues meant he only made it 40 yds down the drive and had to turn back:( So just a lap of Yewbarrow, but always worth getting out, especially now it's winter!
