25th January 2018 - Clappersgate round Loughrigg

4 met up at Clappersgate, it was a very wet drive over but faired up for most of the ride, George, Grant, Jamie and CT, Grant remembered his shoes, bonus, forgot his helmet battery, not so good, but gave him an excuse to cycle slowly at the back :) We headed back along the under Loughrigg lane as a warm up, then up to the caves, along the fell and down to the beach, up around to top of red bank, down into Elterwater and a little circuit, back along Elterwater river and back via the lanes, nice ride in the end, cold but not freezing as long as you kept moving. No pub stops, no cafe stops, not even cake;) but managed to ride 19.43km, with 539m climbing and it looks nice round route on the map!.

18th January 2018 - Farleton

Jamie and Charlie met up in Milnthorpe and cycled over to Farleton to see how muddy it was and yes it was muddy, but good to get out. over 16km and topped out at 250m height.

11th January 2018 - Staveley

Jamie and Charlie met up for a loop round Kentmere, clockwise from Staveley up the road, left before the bridge, tarmac warm up, along to three rivers, Kentmere back via Green quarter, see map. Apparently JB did wait at the gates and also produced some snacks to keep Charlie going on her training programme, you know one foot in front of the other, just like riding a bike don't you know;)

Yes a new year and so some new rides, George was there, Jamie and CT cycled out and Grant came along to say hello, he looked like he might ride, but wellies don't go with SPDs, someone forgot his cycle shoes and went home...There was a risk of a light shower, but the stars did come out, we set off up the road to the Lyth valley hotel where we attempted to ride up the bridleway opposite the hotel, I am sure we used to get further up in the old days;) actually the hedges had been cut so no excuse there, but there was damp mud and slippy limestone everywhere! Carry on up the track and tee off left and head over the tops, we eventually got out west and could start to see civilisation, but could not work out exactly where! We dropped down near to Beck Head and headed back via white scar and then back to the pub for a quick refresh, they had the stove on and we had the place to ourselves (dry January it seems;), George headed to his car and we cycled home, a bit muddy in places but a clear night in the end.
