19th December 2013 - Elterwater

12th December 2013 - Ambleside, Pelter Bridge

4 riders George, Charlie, Jamie and Grant turned up at Pelter bridge for an extremely wet tour of Loughrigg.  Jamie on his cyclo cross bike with skinny tyres. We set off on the back road to Ambleside. After about half a mile the group decided this would be a short ride.  Taking the bridleway on the right after about a mile and half and then up the steep climb  which starts off with tarmac and concrete.  Jamie gave the group a clean pair of heals ('cause no small gears, Ed) and whilst waiting at the gate at the top asked George who was last, if he had been mugged on the way up;)  Next down the hill towards Loughrigg tarn where the visibility was poor due to the mist and the heavy rain but still good.  At the bottom gate Grant removed his head torch and fitted it to the bars for better visibility.  We then took the bridleway past Loughrigg tarn to the top of  Loughrigg Terrace.  Down the terrace with the rain still in our faces we took the top track via the caves.  Taking time for play on the big dips before carrying on back to the cars.   We finished at around ten past eight. 5th December 2013 - Gilpin Bridge

2 hardy souls made it out for a post storm ride around Whitbarrow, Charlie and CT. The winds had calmed down, no rain although a tad chilly, usual route just watch out for the puddles including in the lay-by! Charlie needed a wake up ride so she could go home and sleep off the jet-lag. So ride and watch the leaves, up the hill, round the lanes, past the school, into the woods, take the left hand curve and enjoy the view, a bit steep at the end;) down to the road right turn, along to the muddy track, but it's not too bad now and gives a good steady testing climb, just chat yourselves to the top and back via the first section down through the trees where they have been coppicing so watch out for sticks in the wheels. Back to the van well before 9pm sorted. Next ride Ambleside, Pelter Bridge.
