21st July 2016 - Lowick for Grizedale

Only the Three musketeers turned out,  George, Jamie B and CT. We decided to head to Grizedale side, but which route, shall we try doing it in reverse you say....you know the downhill past Ian's, what uphill....OK then ! So we did and do you know it was actually OK;) we were pasted by 6 motocross type bikes which I thought was cheating especially as we were pedalling hard! Anyhow we did a nice route around the forest, see map below;
Route and profile, we started at Red Lion, Lowick
Half way up the first climb;)

Can you guess where this is?
Hint...they have cut down some trees!

Actually it was a great route, 29 odd KM, just the odd midge.

14th July 2016 - Staveley for Longsleddale

Charlie, Phil, Grant, Jamie, George? met up in Staveley for a loop into Longsleddale and back. Apparently Phil could not 'do' with Grant having the newest bike and his was toooo fat, so he's gone all semi-skimmed and got a new 'un, the jury is still out on whether it will improve his bike riding ;)
So a loop into Longsleddale and back out, involves a bit of climbing, but is a good route, then back via Long Houses, more climbing tests... then race back to the cars:)
No photos of the action, but here's one from our cafe ride on Saturday.
Next ride Lowick
Nice! and a 'copper pot' for the fries

7th July 2016 - Clapham, Yorkshire

Charlie, Jamie M and B, Joel, George and CT turned up for the Clapham ride, if you want an exact route speak to Charlie ;) roughly headed up the tunnels then along the track and down to Austwick, up the lane right turn and head along to Feizor, right and back along more tracks, more lanes, over a little stone bridge, then up onto Norber and up to a trig point, maybe even Long Scar...Then the downhill, we were doing fine and full;y expecting JB to fly past as he had hung back, but no Joel on the fat came flying past and he took some catching, oh and don't forget there is a sting in the tail on the decent, there is a little stiff climb at the end so get your gears and legs ready :) Then back down the tunnels (lights ready ;) and back to the cars, a few went for a beer after, warm, mild, a few midges, no rain = result!
Next ride...Staveley
Nice view... can you spot some bikes
JP on fast fat
Pile of stone on top of mountain

30th June 2016 - Barley Bridge for Kentmere

5 turned out for a wet  summer evening ride. George, Ian, JB, Jamie, and JP set off from Barley Bridge, heading up to Staveley Head. At Birk Rigg we took the left fork past the abandoned house on Green Quarter, then doubling back over the top of Long Houses and down to Kentmere. The ground was wet but still firm which made riding interesting, and rocks were slippy. At Kentmere Ian headed home and took the road back, the remaining 4 headed through Kentmere Hall, still not occupied, some took the opportunity to have a closer look at the property while Jamie sorted the escaping air from his tubeless tyre. From Kentmere it was decided to take the 3 river option, and the descent after the last river crossing was particularly sketchy after all the rain. The rocks were wet and loose, and some sections had washed out further to make the final drops before the gate more challenging than usual. A quick-ish ride of around 2.5 hours.

Also a quick note to congratulate Grant and the Stella 4 for their win in Scotland last weekend, I'm hoping that he will come back to us soon ...

Summer again!
Next ride: Somewhere sunny? OK Clapham, Yorkshire, just past Ingleton A65
