Charlie, Jamie M & B, George and CT turned out on a damp evening which turned out to be OK, JB was on his cross bike and cycled from home. We headed up Limefitt then north and round to Troutbeck village, up Robin lane and at the seat we could see the lights of civilisation (Windermere), so the rain and mist was clearing out a little. Then down the track watching out for the channels cut by the water and rock stones strewn at the bottom of the track and onto the lane, left at the road and through Troutbeck to the church, then back up Limefitt and right to finish a short ride down Garburn, we met 4 other MTBers coming up Garburn, then back to the cars. Nice little ride worth getting out for.

21st January 2016 - Clappersgate for Claiffe
Parking bay was not under water so bonus ;) it was raining a bit, did not put off the hard core crew and as it happened we were all riding different MTBs, 26 sus' Charlie, 26 Fat Joel, 650 hardtail Andrew, 650 sus' George, 29er sus Jamie and 29er HT CT. Disna' matter what bike you have 'just get out and ride' :)
So head out up the new trailway along the road and through Pull wood and onto the other path towards Wray, onto base camp and up the bridleway into Claiffe, needed some effort to climb with the wet ground and also the odd bit of snow for JP to ride fat! Through Long Height and ride usual route to Sawrey, up road to Far Sawrey, pit stop to change brake pads (JB) and sample some of Charlies sticky flap-snack :) Then back into Claiffe for the descent down to the lake side, virtually stopped raining, that's just a mist (a bit foggy in places for head-lamps, especially on cold road sections). Along the lake shore, up into the woods again and over to the guide posts for the descent to Colthouse lane and then right and back to cars. NB: JB was not on spikes and it's much quieter, but Charlie was and made up for it. The flap-snack was needed and some folk popped some gels, virtually 25 KM! so a good ride and JP on fat wednesday managed to clean a few climbs. Back to cars after 10pm no pub stop home for a cuppa tea!

14th January 2016 - Staveley and some snow :)
An Eighteen wheeler ride.....what? I hear you ask...well 9, yes 9 MTBers turned out;
Charlie, Jamie M, Joel, Neil, Grant, Phil, George, Jamie B and CT,
including 3 fat bikes, 2x 650 inc one 1x11 with a bloomin' large 1st gear sprocket:) a 26er, 29er hardtails x2 and a full sus with spike tyres! So off we went for a tour of Staveley head, Green quarter and 2 rivers to finish including some snow to keep folk happy;) It was about freezing but not too damp and felt fine once we warmed up after the first climb!

Post ride note: the spike tyres add loads of grip and they should with 400 studs per tyre, they were ridden in but still lost 36 studs from rear tyre!...so still a few rides left;) apparently you are supposed to ride like it's icy!

7th January 2016 - Gilpin Bridge
Charlie, Joel, George, Jamie B & M and CT met up along side the Gilpin bridge inn for a lap of Whitbarrow. It was a cool night with some stars out so we set off for the usual lap, Jamie B on his cross bike, JP on his fat bike and Jamie M on his new orange machine:)
SO past the inn, over the bridge down the road and up the track past the farm, not too much grip with leaves on the line! Down to Mill side along Beck head and past the school, we went the muddy route but all ridable, just. Now a lap through the trees and enjoy the steep bit at the end :) right for the road section, then climb more mud, but all doable again, back for the woods again and home via the descent, muddy in places but worth the effort. No pictures but we did see one of the large pumping machines in the Lyth Valley and it was fairly impressive, god knows how much water was sitting in the valley!
