We all set off over the bridge climbing up Hall Lane and up onto Staveley Head Fell, then the right track towards Longsleddale. By this stage there was a fair amount of snow around but it was rideable and as we continued it began to snow again and was settling nicely!
From Longsleddale we followed the track along past Hollin Root to Tom's Howe, then on to Sadgill where the climb starts, suprisingly this was made a little easier with sticky snow, although you couldn't see the rocks it was smoothed out by a layer of the white stuff until we reached the gate near the top where the rock and ice started.
From the top of the climb we all made a note not to mention to Paul to be careful on the descent since the last time he demonstrated that bikes can't fly but he could. The snow was now covering all the drops and cambers so it was difficult to work out what was solid, at which point Paul almost had another spill, nothing serious and we all made it back to the top of the road at High Lane.
The lane was covered in approximately 3 inches of snow which was lovely, fresh and crunchy, we all sped down following Jamie and fast as we dared and then regrouped at Kentmere. From Kentmere hall we bumped into another group going in the opposite direction as we climbed up for the last stage of 3 rivers.
We all made it safely back after approximately 3-3.5 hours, it was nearly 1pm back at the cars but worth it. Some of us even had frosty eyebrows!
