5th February 2015 - Haverthwaite

Charlie, George, Grant, Jamie M & B, and CT met up near the Farmers Arms for a tour of Brow Edge, Backbarrow, Canny Hill, Simpson Ground reservoir and Finsthwaite, there I have told you the route already! Usual start down to the clocktower and up the track by the river leven, right turn onto the tarmac and we were passed by a jogger, shows you how slow we are;) it was a cool evening and we were hoping that the mud was still frozen, but alas there was some soft mud in places, in fact going good to firm as they say in racing...track along the top route and watch the ice on the descent back to canny hill. Now over the road and into the forest, up the fire road and round the reservoir, the moon was trying to make an appearance which just made for spooky woods riding! Now back down the hill, good hard ground where it is usually soft mud so good going, back to the road round Newby Bridge and then wend a route through the woods to get back to Haverthwaite, we may have chosen an obscure route, but it was a canny night for a bike rode, back to the cars for 10pm! So homeward bound. Next ride from Lowick, park past the Red Lion.
