14th April 2016 - Hodge Close ride

George, Jamie B, Joel, Jamie M and CT met up just off the A593 north of Coniston and headed up the lane to Hodge Close, after a tarmac start tee off right and ride up the bridleway, don't forget to tighten your crank arm (JB!) turn left and down the old slate path to the play ground, then onward and upward to end up near some old quarry workings. Then down a steep route, much fun but drop that seat-post ;) then round to Stang End and right back to the track to High Oxenfell, now cross the road an over towards High Arnside, but head back via Tarn Hows, but instead of the golden mile, head back up the entrance lane and down the other track, down to Boon Crag and back to the cars, on the way noticing a Tawny Owl sitting in a tree at dusk trying to mind it's own business, until we turn up with lights ;( something around, maybe just under 10 miles....Oh and no flapjack... standards are slipping;)
Next ride Walna Scar, parking off Hummer Lane at the top entrance to the forest.
Views :)
