30th June 2016 - Barley Bridge for Kentmere

5 turned out for a wet  summer evening ride. George, Ian, JB, Jamie, and JP set off from Barley Bridge, heading up to Staveley Head. At Birk Rigg we took the left fork past the abandoned house on Green Quarter, then doubling back over the top of Long Houses and down to Kentmere. The ground was wet but still firm which made riding interesting, and rocks were slippy. At Kentmere Ian headed home and took the road back, the remaining 4 headed through Kentmere Hall, still not occupied, some took the opportunity to have a closer look at the property while Jamie sorted the escaping air from his tubeless tyre. From Kentmere it was decided to take the 3 river option, and the descent after the last river crossing was particularly sketchy after all the rain. The rocks were wet and loose, and some sections had washed out further to make the final drops before the gate more challenging than usual. A quick-ish ride of around 2.5 hours.

Also a quick note to congratulate Grant and the Stella 4 for their win in Scotland last weekend, I'm hoping that he will come back to us soon ...
