16th February 2012 - Lowick for Grizedale

6 met up near the Red Lion at Lowick, Charlie, Chris M, Jamie, Freddie, Ian and CT. It was a bit wet for the start and we set off east to Nibthwaite Grange and up Bletherbarrow lane as a bit of a warm up...! Then across to Ickenthwaite trying to avoid the frogs in the water filled pools, a great descent just watch the boggy bits. Down the lanes to Force Forge and take the left hand bridleway link for a good testing route and now head towards Satterthwaite and up Moor Lane, which was actually quite rideable, up to the gate and onto the fire road here we discussed which way to get over to Parkamoor, whilst 2 folk fixed punctures (the hedges had been cut along the lanes ;( and Ian pumped his slow deflating tyre hoping to get away with it, we opted to carry on riding up Moor lane, which again is OK once you get past the first load of rock garden. Higher up there were a few bits of ice, but nothing to stop progress. Now near the top of Parkamoor it was foggy which is rubbish if you have helmet mounted lights...so it was rubbish, but at least for the descent to Nibthwaite the fog lifted for the 2 main rock sections and the final descent. Charlie was putting hers skills to the test and tried successfully to do an endo off her bike over the rock gardens, TWICE! Ian finally managed a flat again after a tumble. The final blast down was Freddie's first time, what an introduction at night and so a great ride out. Next ride is Troutbeck and note the ride list has been updated see link on right hand side
