5th April 2012 - Staveley for Kentmere

9 folk turned by at Barley Bridge; Chris M, George, Ian, Neil, Charlie, Joel, Jamie, Freddie and CT. It was a clear evening after a sunny day and a slight change to the normal route, off up the road for a warm up (if such a thing is possible) then left over the bridge and on up past Croft head and onto the fell leading us up 2 rivers which is a testing climb, especially the first rock step (took 2 attempts to clean it). Not too much water in the becks, although Joel insisted on doing a track stand so he could study the best line through the water;). On up to the top and enjoy the descent down to Kentmere Hall, although Ian had trouble with spd cleats again (he had lost one) and luckily Joel had a spare one, apparently you can use a rotor bolt as a get you home bodge (as long as you don't have centre lock rotors, hay CT ;)). It was still daylight, so where now, Ian mentioned Garburn, but no, Green Quarter and back via HP, on the way we met Heather and her usual Thursday night group, she being a previous RADs rider and recognised a few faces. Nice ride round Rasp Howe and Birk Rigg and home via HP. Here Jamie flatted half way down and Neil took a tumble whilst sessioning his second go on the rocks, but the knee pads saved the day, well at least most skin except for the shin area! A great nights ride on dry trails with plenty of grip. Next ride is Troutbeck, park near the church.
