Just Joel and George turned up at 6.30pm waited until 6.45pm and then set off for a tour of Longsleddle. Starting off via Scroggs and the joining the road up to Elf Howe before taking the bridleway up the steep field to rejoin Old Hall Lane up to the Green Quarter. After passing the gate for the HP we carried on up the fell and missed the turn off that would take us down to Longsleddle. We realised this when we reached the gate at the top of the hill. We then backtracked and found the turn off and proceeded across the fell and down the excellent downhill into the valley. At the barn conversion we were met by an extremely angry dog guarding the premises being both cowards we decided an alternative route through the field below the house. Back on right track again Joel suggested we take the bridleway through the farm (not a good idea as this resulted in very little riding and a lot of pushing up a very steep gradient) We eventually came out at the gate where the bridleway we normally use from the valley meets the bridle way that transverses Green Quarter. Here we turned left to cross Green Quarter which was very boggy in places. Just before arriving at the gate at the end of Green Quarter Joel took a tumble and George heard his cries but couldn't see him. Joel finally surfaced but without his helmet. He caught George up at the gate and had taken his helmet off before getting up to inspect it for damage. We then turned right and headed for HP before returning to the car. Great ride on a lovely evening.
Next ride Grizedale from Satterthwaite.
