13th October 2016 - Keswick, Whinlatter

The road into Keswick was closed to through traffic, good job we decided to meet at the bottom of Spoony Green lane, Jamie, Grant, George and CT met up on a cool Autumn evening but no rain. Following the floods a bridge has been washed away along the old railway line, so we decided to head to Whinlatter, at least we would have a warm up. Even so the first road hill was still a hill ;) see photo (there's only one as it was dark)
30 sec exposure for views of Bassenthwaite Lake
We continued up and took the first left onto the blue route to get started. There are some testing sections and short cuts on harder rock gardens, sometimes a short cut worked and you could get ahead of the others, but not always;) the descents were fun with a few jumps, then we headed onto the south red and worked our way round, again great descent off the top and testing in places. Then back to the center and start the red then onto the blue and down via a green lane which has been washed out, then along the road back to the cars, 16 odd miles nearly 2000ft ascent:) a good ride out.
Next ride from Esthwaite water car park, southern end of the water.
