Grant, Phil, Jamie M and George met at Brathay Bridge. We set off along the new cycle path towards Wray Castle.
Jamie had developed derailleur problems along the route and at Wray Castle he decided that it was not fixable so he headed back to his car. The remaining 3 carried on up to base camp taking the bridleway into the forest rather than the fire road . At the end of the bridleway we turned right then left up to the guide posts. From here we carried straight on enjoying the ride past the tarns down to Sawrey. Then up the climb behind the pub blinding some walkers on the way. A superb descent down to the lake then up the slippery slate next to the belle grange to the guide posts. Phil almost cleared this ascent. From the guide posts back down the excellent descent to Hawkshead. Here the usual debate about snakebite ally it was decided to take the road back to Brathay Bridge as one of Phils big tyres was losing air. Back at the cars about 9.15pm no mileage as I forgot my Garmin. (thanks to George for the script)
Next ride Keswick, meet on Brundholme Road, at bottom of Spoony Green Lane.
