3 turned up at Brathay (George, JB, JP) where it was decided to head towards Elterwater and then decide the rest from there. The weather was cold, the temperature was 0 degrees at 6.30 and dropping. We started by heading towards Miller Brow in the hope of warming up on the climb, then round Loughrigg Tarn, up High Close behind the hostel then down to Elterwater.
From Elterwater we headed up through the quarries, then down to Little Langdale, watch out for the ice on the road which was slippy. From Little Langdale we crossed the river and onto hodge close through Tilberthwaite, and on towards Iron Keld. From Iron Keld the decision was taken to head over to Outgate as this would be safer route back to Brathay as the gravel tracks wouldn’t be so icy, at this point George was recording a temperature of -3 and JB was complaining he could feel the cold aluminium of his brake lever through his gloves due to the absence of the usual carbon, it was time to head home!
We continued on towards Sunny Brow, down to Outgate, then snakebike (or is it snakebite;) (OK my typo! JP) alley where we joined the gravel tracks back towards Wray before getting back to Brathay around 10pm, and approximately 15 miles of cold riding.
Next ride: High Cross Hawkshead Hill

In my defence it is years since I've had carbon brake levers. Its only noticeable in cold conditions like this. Jb
