6 riders turned up (eventually) even though there had been some snow, it had turned to ice on some of the side roads and parking places. CT & JB had been out in Kentmere the Sunday before and even though it was snowy there was a MTB/Run orienteering event, with lots of dejected MTBers asking was there much more walking? Our regular circuit ride had taken over 3 hours and invloved 50%+ of walking, still it was peaceful.
SO this evening we wondered how the ice would be and set off up the lane over the Scroggs bridge and take the right turn up the lane to Middle Elfhowe and then the bridleway to Hall lane, even this was a test, with much slipping and sliding, you have to be very smooth. We worked on up to Staveley head, a left and right to Long Houses, the descent was icy, but still fun to experience a cold crisp night. Once down to the road, the icy conditions led the group to turn left and head back, so half a ride it was!!! No drinks stop as we headed home for a warm up.
Next ride on Thursday 18th December will be from Ings, when all the cold stuff will have melted away and we can have a festive drink at the Watermill.
