18th December 2008 - Ings

8 riders were organised enough to come out to play, Jamie rode out from Kendal, James was going to ride out but managed to grab a taxi and arrived just in time, i.e. we were still planning a route trying to avoid the quagmire in parts of Kentmere, after the snow and ice melted! We headed up the first lane towards Grassgarth, at the first junction we discussed more options, someone joked about Garburn being rocky and not muddy and so we headed on the High Borrans route to Dubbs Road, stopping near the reservoir for some of Neils tasty snacks, good show! Onwards and upwards until Garburn, then left and down the track, it is fairly rocky and so some walking was entertained, we regrouped at the junction with Longmire Road track, but we were missing some, Chris M had found a 'snake' and stopped to fix the 'bite', first aid ably assisted by Charlie. We all caught up for the road ride back and them managed a wee drink in the pub and a few chips.
Riding options over the festive holiday look like this: for Sunday morning rides contact Grant & for a New Years day ride Jamie is keen, not sure where (Tradition is Claiffe to Hawkshead, but I tried to check out the Ferry but CCC web page not loading!) and the Lakes will probably be busy! so maybe Barbon, meet 10-10.30am near the Church (with extra leg to Dent for the keen and weather dependant?) Next official ride is 8th January 2009 at Ings again.
