20th June 2013 - Keswick
3 riders met for the tour of Blencathra. George Jamie and Max. George was a little concerned when he arrived and saw Max and Jamie waiting by the swimming pool as this mean't a fast tricky ride. The trio set of along the old railway track to Threlkeld and then up the climb past the Blencathra centre and up onto the fell. The track was very good and fast and the three were together until we made the turn to go back up the other side of the valley towards Latrigg. Max managed the full climb Jamie had a few dabs but George only had one dab as he walked about 100yds of the steep rocky part. We then picked up speed as the track levelled out and carefully riding over the difficult rocky sections with the sheer drop to the left. Then the fast easy section to the top of Latrigg. Here rather than take the cinder track to the top of Latrigg for the view. Max had a surprise for us and we headed up the steep field to the left of the cinder track. At the top of the hill we turned left along the track and before the gate we took a sharp right and dropped into the woods at the side of Latrigg and endured some extremely steep and technical single track which eventually joined the main Latrigg decent at the bottom. Quite a hair raising decent. We returned back to the cars at 9pm so a quick tour of blencathra.
