15th September 2016 - Elterwater

We all met up on the common, Charlie, Jamie M & B, George, Joel and CT. We set off west to cross the bridge over the beck then off up past the quarry and the little climb through the woods, then descend down and on through the ford, OK over the bridge, then right and along the track. A little detour for CT and JM to check out a little cottage, nice location :) then onwards and upwards, here CT got hold of JMs bike and had a little climb test on a bike with wide bars, JM had a test on a hardtail with narrow bars and rough gears;), we then swapped back and continued to meet the rest where JB was waiting and telling stories...

Round the next bend and upwards, this is a nice test...until the rock before the gate, then it's tricky, through the gate and another test, this is more doable...keep heading up, re-group at the gate and now it's downhill. Left at Tilberthwaite farm, past the 'play-ground' where we met another group and on to Hodge Close, up and over to Oxenfell, here on the top road we saw a group of deer and a stag at dusk, very nice to see. Now we headed to NT plantation and down to the last section back along the river to Elterwater. Back nice and early just under 10 miles.
